10 Reasons Why I Love George Romero's 1968 "Night of the Living Dead."

It may just be the time of year, so I thought I’d share one of my guilty pleasures. ZOMBIE MOVIES! Yep I love’m, Here are my thoughts on why the original “Night of the Living Dead”  is a classic film in ANY genre.

1- Zero Budget! budget limitations often creates groundbreaking work, see: Jaws, Star Wars, Van Halen 1-5.

2- No CGI special effects, real Zombies in 1968 were hard to find.

2.5 -Amazing use of of Shadows and Light, Timing and Pace.

3-No obligatory sex scene. The film is just scarier, no let up for a 45 second awkward sex scene, thanks George!

4-Slow Zombies are way scarier than fast zombies any day!

5-Romero creates something really scary without the, currently popular, “Torture Porn” approach.

6- An African-American Hero in 1968!! Ben (Duane Jones) was way ahead of his time.

7- Humans lose, the ending is a completely unexpected, un-Hollywood ending.

8- NOTLD Created a new genre.

9- The Film was never copyrighted! Movie is now public domain. OUCH George!

10. NOTLD is perfectly scary without being evil or demonic.
